SEC Halts Ex-Marine’s Hedge Fund Fraud Targeting Fellow Military

SEC v. Clayton A. Cohn and Marketaction Advisors, LLC

  • 2017
  • $1.6 Million

Defendants, a hedge fund investment advisor and its managing member, raised nearly $1.8 million for a managed fund by lying to investors about Cohn’s success as a trader, the performance of the fund, use of investor proceeds, and Cohn’s personal stake in the fund. Less than half of the money raised was invested, and Cohn spent more than $400,000 on personal expenses, including a Hollywood mansion, luxury automobile, and extravagant tabs at high-end nightclubs.
